REPEAT PRESCRIPTION SERVICE
In line with existing practice policy from 1st November 2009 repeat prescription requests will no longer be taken over the telephone.
The Patient Participation Group have been consulted and are in full support of the practice reinforcing this rule.
If you have any concerns or would like to discuss this further, please see reception.
You can currently order repeat prescriptions in three ways:
IN PERSON
Tick off the medication you require on your repeat prescription list and drop it into the black collection box located in the lobby at The Health Centre. If The Health Centre is closed you can put it in the posting box on the outside wall of The Health Centre. If you don't have your printed list, you can write what you need on a piece of paper. If the item is urgent then please see reception as before. These boxes are opened once a day at 3 pm (Mon – Fri).
BY POST
Please address the envelope to “Prescriptions” at The Health Centre. Please enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope if you wish the prescription to be sent back to you. Alternatively, you may tell us in writing which local pharmacy you would like your prescription form to be sent to.
ONLINE
We also provide an online service for requesting repeat prescriptions. The service is available for all patients over the age of 16 for repeat medication only. You may now access online repeat prescriptions.
BY FAX
Our fax number is 01225 868493. Please mark the fax “For Attention of Prescriptions.”
When Will My Prescription Be Ready?
In all cases, repeat prescription forms will be ready to collect two working days (longer if ordering by post) after receipt of the request, either from reception or at a specified local pharmacy.
| Drop-off day | Drop-off time | Collection day | Collection time |
| Monday | before 3pm | Wednesday | after 2pm |
| Tuesday | before 3pm | Thursday | after 2pm |
| Wednesday | before 3pm | Friday | after 2pm |
| Thursday | before 3pm | Monday | after 2pm |
| Friday | before 3pm | Tuesday | after 2pm |
We need this amount of time to generate the prescription form, to check it, double check it, get it signed by your doctor and then have it ready for collection/posting. We process over 1500 prescription requests every week and so need this time to rigorously follow our checking system.
Prescriptions for medication that you may have had before but which is not on a repeated prescription cannot be issued routinely as above. You may request it in person but it must be authorised by your doctor.
Please remember that prescriptions dropped off after 3pm will not be dealt with until the following day.
